Joe Cleary is no stranger to real estate. Formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, Joe attended St. Ignatius High School and later Hiram College.
His credentials read like a "Who's Who" in real estate starting with founding Cleary Realty Co., one of Ohio's leading real estate companies for many years. Over the course of his 45-year career in real estate, Joe was owner/developer of over 2,000 condominium units and has developed residential subdivisions and shopping plazas in the Cleveland and Sarasota area.
Joe has held many professional posts during his career, including President of the Cleveland area Board of Realtors, Director of the Cleveland and Sarasota Boards of Realtors and Director of the Ohio Association of Realtors. He has been a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB) for many years. He was also President of Boomhower Realtors of Sarasota and founded Professional Realty of Sarasota, Inc.
Joe is known as a community leader as well, having served in the past as President of the nationally known Senior Friendship Centers of Sarasota, President of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Sarasota County Natural Resources and Recreation Advisory Board. He also co-founded Miss Sarasota Softball, a female youth softball league on the suncoast.
Since again entering the residential real estate business in 1992, the opportunity to again work with buyers and sellers is the highlight of his career.
Sandy Manning Cleary hails from Birmingham, Michigan and spent her summers at Torch Lake, north of Traverse City. She attended Cleary College in Ypsilanti, majoring in Business Administration.
Sandy owned and operated a printing company in Sarasota for 18 years and managed a Siesta Key gift shop before joining her husband, Joe, in the real estate business.
Her background lends a wealth of talent to The Cleary Group starting with her beaming personality and sincere down to earth approach to real estate. She has been very active in Alltrusa of Sarasota, holding several offices and committee chairs, and has been active in the Sunrise Chapter of American Business Women's Association.
Her community involvement has been with the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce and she served as a member of the Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport Task Force.
Sandy's tremendous interest in young people surfaced as she assumed the leadership of the high school youth group at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church where she also taught Sunday school and served as an elder of the church.
Sandy's love of people has made her involvement in the real estate industry a most rewarding experience.
Joe T. Cleary came to Sarasota from Cleveland, Ohio at the age of two. He graduated from Riverview High School where he was a member of the internationally famous Riverview High School Kiltie Band
He attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. Joe was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and was Vice President of and ultimately President of that fraternity.
Upon graduation, Joe joined Walgreen Drug Stores where he entered into their management-training program. After four and a half years with Walgreen's, he decided to enter the real estate field, joining his dad and his dad's wife, Sandy.
Joe's firm commitment to success has enabled his clients to realize their goals in the sale or purchase of real estate. His adeptness with computer technology enables The Cleary Group to provide many special services to their client base. Certainly, his organizational skills, work ethics and wonderful sense of humor are a welcome addition.
Missy Page Cleary moved with her family to Sarasota in 1982 from Lansing, Michigan. She was a member of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks for 6 years where she competed nationally. Missy attended Brookside Middle School and graduated from Riverview High School. Upon graduation, she attended Florida State University and for the next 4 years she was consistently on the Deans List, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelors and Masters in Special Education.
Missy returned to Sarasota to start a career and a family and spent the next ten years in the Sarasota County Public Schools where she taught Emotionally Handicapped students at Wilkinson Elementary and Oak Park School. Along the way, she was recruited as a Behavior Specialist at Laurel Nokomis School. Throughout her career with the school system, Missy was always a leader at each of her schools and a Model Classroom Teacher. In addition she has done extensive new teacher training and staff development nationally and throughout Sarasota County.
Missy met Joe Jr. in May 2000. Joe helped Missy with the purchase of her home and the entire Cleary family helped with the renovation. Joe and Missy were married in June of 2001 and have two sons, Tyler and Carter.
Missy is excited to join this family business and has a wonderful approach to working with buyers and sellers. Her experience in teaching helps her to explain and clarify items in an easy to understand way. She most of all enjoys making people happy with a purchase or sale of their home. Since joining The Cleary Group, Missy has become an instant success and will continue to grow in her new chosen profession.
